This story is a stunner. The author has such real, heartfelt grief over the breakup of his marriage. Often, we think men just sail through divorce. And, probably in public, the author appeared to be doing so, but in this story he reveals the turmoil and devastation he really felt as his world fell apart. It's not often one reads about divorce from the point of view of the man.I really appreciated the author telling as full a story as he could. I appreciated his insight in trying to understand how something that seemed so good for a few years could have ended as it did. I also appreciated that he told his story with kindness and gentility.Something that truly perplexed me was that his wife is a psychologist, yet even with her extensive training and education, she never sought marital counseling. Instead, she spoke with a Catholic priest. What the priest allegedly said to her was the only thing in the book that didn't ring true to me. Maybe he said it, maybe he didn't, maybe he said more than that.I really liked the following two passages that the author wrote: "It’s hard enough sometimes to understand ourselves, let alone another person" and "You never solve the mystery of another person because the mystery keeps evolving. You never crack the code because the code keeps changing. That’s just the way it is." Amen to that. This story can be read in about one hour.
