What's not to like about Doris Day; she had the absolute big band voice, plus she had the looks to go with her fantastic voice! Kirk Douglas did an exceptional job in portraying the young trumpet player, who later becomes a well known horn player, among his peers. Kirk appeared so natural with the trumpet, you would have thought he was doing the actual playing! However, the trumpet work was performed by the exceptional Harry James!!! Hoagy Carmichael did an admirable job portraying Kirk Douglas' piano playing sidekick. This is a movie that all musicians, young and old, would definitely appreciate!!!
