Candido’s “Dancin’ and Prancin’” was released in 1979 on Salsoul Records at the dizzying peak of the Disco craze. There are only four songs on the album, aimed squarely at the Discos and their glittering lights. It was a normal musical industry custom circa 1979 for Disco albums to have no more then 4 songs, released in their full length album versions. “Dancin’ and Prancin’” delivers four breathtaking Dance classics, all of which found a home in Discos and clubs across the world, particularly in New York and Philadelphia. “Jingo” and “Thousand Finger Man” not only became club staples in 1979, but remain favorites amongst DJ’s and receive club play to this day. Both are sophisticated R&B Disco songs with killer grooves that are guaranteed to get you moving. “Rock And Shuffle (Ah-Ha)” and the title track do not stray from the over all feel of the album and sound as great today as they did 35 years ago. The album has a sunny over all feel with some Latin flavor thrown in, as was standard with many Salsoul released in the late 1970’s. Dust off your old platform shoes, check if the bell bottoms fit, crank up the volume and get the party started.Big Thanks to Big Break Records for re-mastering this long out of print gem, which was a much sought after item for crate diggers and collectors. As is always the case with a BBR re-master, the sound is great, the liner notes are fascinating and informative and there are Bonus tracks galore here. 6 of them to be exact and they are a treat. “Thousand Finger Man” and “Jingo” are presented here in their very rare 12” Versions as well as in their Single Mixes, in addition to their original full length album versions. “Jingo” is also presented here in an alternate single mix and in its instrumental version. The album’s colorful original album cover art front and back is preserved as well. A true treasure for any Disco/R&B lover and collector.
