This recording is of Elton on the original Elton Solo tour after the EJ Band temporarily broke up. Elton really was a monster on the keys during this period. The rave-ups on "Saturday Night" and "Take Me to the Pilot" are incredible, and he hardly ever (in fact never really) performs either song during his solo shows anymore. What's even better is how he really fills in the arrangements because he doesn't have the sustained synth triggers that he has now to do the extra work for him (sorry but it's true).
