DESCRIPTION
Growing up during the chaos of the Nabosian War, Faela Durante and her entire generation never knew what it meant to live in a time of peace. Though the war ended years ago, the devastation has not. Every decision, no matter how seemingly insignificant, has a consequence and some consequences can never be predicted. But some are foretold.Less than a year ago, Faela, the first Tereskan mind healer in generations, disappeared from her family home in Finalaran scared and pregnant. Hunted and living as an outcast, Faela searches for a legend that might be her only hope of gaining atonement and returning to her son. When her journey collides with two strangers and a prophecy, she must choose between trusting those around her or endangering her mission. With her past refusing to stay behind her, the consequences of Faela's choices will risk more than her own fate.

Hard to put down, reads fast, scenes racing, action packed, well descriptive, and definitely worth your time. Take a look. Once you read the first page and turn; the next thing you know, you're turning the last page.As a voracious fantasy reader as well as a literary critic for Young Adult novels, it has been awhile since I have started a novel and find it hard to put down. I picked up the novel on the whim thinking that it was going to be another usual fantasy book. This is moderately well written. The language is very mainstream for fantasy novel. I have to say: Mock is on a start of a trilogy that might be compared to Pierce, Nix, and Pullman. The beginning is an enigma and foreshadows the novel and the trilogy itself. A bit confusing at first, but once about a quarter into the book, then the story begins to take shape, form, and some sense. In a way, the story seems to be like Mireya herself: complex ideas but only so many words to explain and describe.Plot and characters are well-developed. Every string of thought is woven tightly together. No loopholes can be found but does leave an air of mystery and questions that can be left to the imagination. Cannot wait for the second novel.
