This movie is a quiet riot of uncertainty, desire and discovery.The protagonist, Viktoras, who lives a quiet, dutiful life, sets out on a road adventure and quickly encounters an extrovert (Mathias) who immediately sets his - and our - alarms blaring. But Mathias' personal charm and claim to geographical knowledge (not to mention ability to share gas expense and ownership of a drivers' licence) eventually win over as a tentatively convenient road companion.The two amble northwards through Italy with some push and pull tension in each other's style of traveling, and sharing enough interesting experiences to keep them going together. But in spite of the apparent desire to like and trust each other, the doubts keep arising about Mathias' trustworthiness and Viktoras' commitment to at least a friendship.I honestly could write a book about the believability the actors bring to their characters, and the often inadvertent buffoonery in their sincerity. And while it's Mathias who rings the alarm bells by acknowledging his shenanigans, we also see that Viktor's self-righteousness stands on its own shaky ground.There's plenty not detailed or explained in the movie, some of it left to our own interpretation and imagination. And no spoilers to be found here.I do wholeheartedly encourage you to watch this highly unique film and enjoy the ride together with our adventurers. My bet is you'll be thinking and talking about it for quite a while afterwards.
