About the Artist George Mgrdichian was born in Philadelphia, oud virtuoso George Mgrdichian has been credited with taking the oud from the cabaret to the concert stage. Holding a Bachelor and Master degree from the prestigious Juliard School of Music, George debuted in 1967 at a recital at Town Hall in New York City. From that point, he was asked to make a guest performance with the New York Philharmonic, an event which marked the performance of the oud with a major symphony orchestra. The artistry of Mr. Mgrdichian can be heard on over sixty-five recordings including ARP's One Man's Passion. He received Special Merit awards from Stereo Review and Billboard magazines. Recently, George finished a lengthy appearance in the Off-Broadway play Nine Armenians, performing and composing on the oud.
