Early Man - Life Nature Library | Prehistoric Human Evolution Book | Perfect for Anthropology Enthusiasts & History Buffs

My family had this book when I was a child and I remember loving the amazing prints. I recently obtained a copy for the sake of nostalgia. Well, I finally read the book instead of just looking at the pictures, and it is still wonderful! It is true that some of the conclusions are dated, but plenty of it is still solid (Homo Sapiens still came down the Australopithecine line followed by Homo Erectus). Now Neanderthal is seen as a side species with some interbreeding with Home Sapiens outside sub-Saharan Africa, rather than ancestral. Some very early primates are no longer regarded as ancestral to man, etc. None of this is surprising. However, reading this book ought to help anyone understand how paleo-anthropologists do their work and come to their conclusions. Highly recommended!
