On a personal note, my dear mother who passed away recently, LOVED this movie. I watched it with her one 'St. Patrick's Day' and loved it, as well ~ so much so that I purchased it for her. The chemistry between John Wayne and Maureen O'Hara is wonderful! John Wayne plays Sean Thornton, a man who was born in Ireland. His family moves to the U.S. where he grows up and becomes a prize fighter. Tragedy occurs when he accidentally kills a man in the ring. He then moves back to Ireland and meets and falls in love with a beautiful woman played by Maureen O'Hara. The movie is 'bittersweet' and has many funny moments. Whether you're 'Irish' or not, it's an endearing film directed by John Ford. It shows the beauty of Ireland with those luscious green sloping hills.
