This is a great spy novel, I didn't realise at first it had been written back in the cold war eighties. The anti-hero Povin is a complex character who at times appears in total control of the situation and then to be throwing it all away due to serious feelings of anxiety and guilt. The Kyril character is excellent the Soviet answer to James Bond with all his angst.I really enjoyed this novel, looking back to the espionage business in the late 70`s and am looking forward to the next instalment of Povin.
