Most baby crocodiles become meals for other larger animals, and there was an interest to observe the number that survived to adulthood.On the journey, the Crocodile Man, John, actually does get attacked by a crocodile and his leg is hurt. Akimbo has to figure out a way to get his friend to hospital soon or he will bleed to death. This is where Akimbo applies his innovative talent. Perhaps Smith goes a bit further than can be expected, but Akimbo is an extraordinary boy.As always, Akimbo works for that which is right in human society. It is right to help a friend if they are hurt. It may even be a cause to break rules especially if it will save a life and not endanger any other life. This is the crux of Smith's message. Akimbo follows his instincts about what is right and wrong and uses his imagination and creativity and finds the needed solutions to his dilemmas.The book is recommended highly for children age 5 through 10. It can easily by read to younger children by parents as well. The book is a wonderful story of another adventure in the life of Akimbo in the African forest.I read this and other Akimbo books to my son, who has been listening to my stories while he was still in his mother's womb. The only problem I had with this specific purchase was that the order was fulfilled by an individual seller who might have sold me a New York library book. I pledged that after reading this book, I'd mail it to that library. This used book, which is in excellent condition cost me somewhere between 5-8 bucks.One of my grandsons thinks he doesn't like to read, and in school it's a challenge to find books he'll sit down and read. Since he is into Crocodiles right now, I saw this book on Amazon and bought it. He actually did enjoy reading the story, so it was well worth my time and money.While this is actually a children's book I enjoyed it nevertheless because I am facinated with African folklore and anything to do with African culture and the beautiful animals.This is a great series for boys 8 years old. Loved it!I have been looking for children's books about Africa and these are great. Feature a child (Akimbo) as the protagonist, with stories of animals in the wild.great classic readI was at a library book sale and they had this book and it also came with the Audiobook and loved it. I was in Africa in 2017 and did a 9 day safari and got to see lots of nile crocs. So this brought me back to one of my favorite trips. I will be getting more of these books.Bought this for my 6 year old, he was gripped by the story so we've bought more from the range and he's loved them all, they've been a real hit. They're adventures of Akimbo, the son of a ranger and perfect for animal lovers, my son is mesmerised by the unique storylines.Good and well kept book
