My brothers Dog really loves his new coat…But should have more space for a male dog or have 2 different ones - problem if he needs to take a quick pee.Easy to put on, velcro is nice, I don't think my dog would sit still long enough to use one with a zipper.Long overdue review, but this is a great product overall!While I haven't walked my dogs through excessively heavy rain, the coats I bought for them have kept them dry everywhere the coat covers, so they're much more willing to go out in the rain, and saves me a bunch of time and effort to dry them when we get back. Can't speak for warmth, as I live in a warm climate without much of a winter.My only criticism is that despite the rest of the coats fitting perfectly, the elastic leg loops for the hind legs would ride up into the genitals, causing significant discomfort. Fortunately, the coats still function without them, though the coats don't sit perfectly straight. I would recommend the manufacturer make a separate line that has an additional strap across the belly in place of the leg loops for females.These worked well to keep the cold and damp off the dogs. They are also hardy! Have washed them two or three times with no issues. They also stay on well and stand up to our dogs jumping, running, rolling, and romping around the yard as well as rough housing. Both dogs play-fight and jump and paw at each other constantly and neither coat has been harmed or come off. Well worth the price.I would say they are more a medium weight though, not light-weight as they have a nice fleecy lining; certainly perfect for mild CA winters and cool mornings and even one snow day.The dogs seem to love them, too, sitting down eagerly to get their coats on when the weather is chilly.Do measure your dog before ordering. We got two extra larges for what I would call medium size dogs.For the money definitely worth it. Easy to put on and off even if your pup is a wiggly one. My dog is 3 years old. He loves to see it coming when it’s time to go out. He is a very wiggly one when excited however it’s easy to put on and take off regardless. One side for wet weather, one for dry or just use one for both. Easy fit due to the Velcro fasteners. My pup is hard to fit he has a barrel chest and a long thin neck so most things don’t fit well and this when on looks like it was made for him. Would definitely recommend.The jacket works wonderfully as a rain coat (cannot rate as a jacket because I live in a generally warm climate), but the coat was clearly designed for a male dog. Came with elastic loops for the back legs to go into, but would ride up into my girls' ladybits. Fortunately, they only slope a bit to one side after removing said loops, but not so much that my dogs aren't covered (I only use the coats for 20-30min walks, so I can't say how they'd hold up while your dog is playing). I haven't needed to, but I imagine this problem could be dealt with by adding a second velcro strap across the stomach.Extremely well made - far beyond expectations - highly recommend. We ordered this (3XX for our Standard Poodle) and were surprised at how well engineered and fabricated this is. Used it immediately on arrival in the pouring rain here for our daily walk -- gotta do it -- and were so impressed that it really is waterPROOF and great quality in material and construction. Worth more than it costs for sure.Note: the 3XX size is just a wee bit large for our 70 pound poodle, but we are very happy with it.I don’t have a comparison to other jackets but I know what I like and need for my dog. This jacket covers all the basis. It’s lined with cozy fleece, made out a durable waterproof fabric with glow in the dark piping, has a comfortable neck and underbelly Velcro closing and is soooo easy to put on the pup.Someone posed a concern about being afraid the underbelly piece will be pied (in males) on due to its length. I believe this could be an issue. Though fortunately jackets like this wash well and easily. I’m not overly concerned.Unfortunately, I’ll have to exchange mine for a size larger. Please refer to a photo. And keep in mind my belgian mal is approx 52 lbs. neck 20”, chest 31”, length 25. I purchased XL 4. But then received answered from other customers recommending sizing up (xl 5). Was too late. Now looking at the dog in his jacket, I wish it was longer and covered side of his butt/legs a bit more and also extended more on the top of the neck. Every time he bends head down the jacket becomes even shorten in the back. Seems it won’t protect form elements as well as I would wish, hence the exchange.Love the read too.Update 12/21/20It’s been 2 (if I’m not mistaken) years since purchase. Our pupp wears his jacket during nor’easter winters and cold rainy days.We ended up keeping smaller size (please refer to size/measurements above).Unfortunately, the Velcro part got so worn out due to excess hairs in it, that we are no longer able to use it.Our standard poodle looks great and has kept warm during the cold weather. BarbaraTotally wrong shape. Chest too large and velcro not thought through.Length too short, even after measuring as required.Silly elastic loops at the back rubbed into my dogs skin.ordered a 5xl and was given a 3 xl apparent email to supplier said this is an Asian sizing...
