This is the second time I've used this item. Our 14 year old dog has no problem wearing it. The front leash attachment point works great to reduce pulling problem. The handle on the back is useful to aid him to get into the car as he is getting older. This dog is ready to go in this harness! All other harnesses are inferior! I had a dog who wore this harness on the loosest adjustment and now have one on the tightest, both golden retrievers who either want to go get attention from strangers or chase squirrels! It is critical to have metal attachments that don’t break. The rescue has broken the metal on other harnesses (yes, really) jerking over squirrels, but this one has survived! Now we just need a Kurgo bungee leash to match with carabiner attachments. We love the padded running belt, but he bent the metal on it! Another Kurgo product that is a fave is the travel water bowl. But I digress, when we put the dog in this harness, we know he’s not slipping out of it or popping the metal. Sounds simple, but it’s a big deal! Thank you, Kurgo for making quality products that can get wet and last! Our dog also wears this in the car attached to the seat. I do feel he would be safer in this harness in the case of a car accident because of how the harness fits and don’t find it necessary to use a separate one.I personally love the mechanism to attach it and don’t have to worry about the snaps or buckles popping off like on other harnesses. My son has a husky and she will drag me during a walk. This helps to keep her under a little more control, and it is much healthier than choking her neck.I have a dog that has an unhealthy obsession with things on wheels so when a car, truck, motorcycle or bike passes us on our walks she lunges after them. I was looking for a harness that had a handle on the back so if needed, I could control her better when we were walking. The handle is supposed to be for helping dogs over obstacles when hiking but this harness worked beautifully for when she lunged at passing vehicles. After three months we noticed the harness seemed loose. Worried that she might be able to slip out of it, we adjusted it to fit again. And then it was loose again. Now paying attention to the fit, we noticed we were adjusting it almost every time it was put on. I called Kurgo to find out if there was something I was supposed to do to set the fit somehow. Maybe the buckles were defective or something. The representative suggested I wash it so it would maybe shrink to fit. I replied since it's worn every day, it's washed every other week. If it was going to shrink, it should have shrunk by now.The rep verified my dogs weight and confirmed I had purchased the right harness. He then offered me 25% off of another harness if I wanted to replace it with another version. No - I already paid a lot for this harness and I would like for it to work. I don't think expecting an adjustable strap to stay where it was adjusted is asking for anything unusual. Apparently this harness has been discontinued but they still had some in inventory so he offered to send me the same harness as a replacement under warranty. I am waiting for the replacement to arrive.Since it's been discontinued, it's my guess there might have been a design flaw with this one. Overall I do like their line of products and this is the first time I've had to use my warranty.***UPDATE***As promised, the replacement arrived today. I am hoping this one is better at holding fit adjustments than the first one did (didn't).Bought this for my dane boxer mix (size large) as he tends to get over excited and pushy when he sees other dogs. I have used both attachment points on him and on several occasions I have discovered how fast I can be dragged across a park. He seems to like the harness and the little coat hanger it comes with is cute, I just wish it helped with pulling a bit better. I'll continue to use this in conjunction with a head halter and double leash. I mean I like a good run as much as the next person, but I usually like some control as to where I'm going and I'd rather the 2 of us don't get hit by a car.If your dog isn't much into pulling, it's a nice harness and the back clip definitely gives them the freedom of movement. He never had any chaffing from the harness either so that's a plus! And he has a boxer-dane body and the harness could be adjusted to fit his neck and chest. He's about 2.5 feet tall and weighs about 80lbs (if that helps anyone with a similar breed). I could likely have gotten away with buying a medium as it is cinched up around the chest and neck as tight as it will grow, but he is young so I still expect him to fill out a bit more yet.Our dog is fairly long and lean. He weighs 40 lbs so we ordered the medium. This harness would be better suited for shorter bodied dogs- on our dog it sit too far up his body/shoulders and he has managed to back his way out of it when we had the leash clipped on the front. One of the main reasons we bought this one was to use it as a seat belt in the car. The way it fits him, he manages to get it all twisted around him and we often have to undo the seat belt to fix it mid trip. We tried to put the seat belt through the back handle/loop but it doesn't work well like that, so we have to use the separate loop and carribeaner that came with it, but he has chewed through the loop strap without much effort. The harness seems well made and has metal hardware for putting it on your dog, but unfortunately it is much harder to put on and take off than standard plastic "snap" buckles found typically on harnesses, as you have to slide the tabs through a small slot. If you have a squirmy dog, this can be frustrating. We had a harness for our previous dog that worked much better, so I am a bit disappointed in this one. Also note that the red color appears to be more like a dark pink. One upside- the price is much more reasonable that a lot of other harnesses.Outstanding harness. The quality is beyond my expectations and it is super durable. My pup Arya and I walk the trails three times a day and it is literally the perfect harness. I now own two for her, one in Red and one in Blue. Also have the Kurgo treat bag to match! This is the best harness we have used by far and the quality of material is elite. All of the buckles are solid metal and the material of the harness is on par with high quality camping gear. I am now a Kurgo fan for life. Highest of recommendations. Buy it!I really wanted to love this harness, but it just isn't working out for my dog.It is well-made and good quality. The problem is the harness isn't suitable for my dog's tiny neck circumference and big barrel chest. I measured him and ordered the medium. The harness is still too big around his neck even at its smallest setting, but it is a smidgen too small for him around his chest even at its maximum size. I feel like if I were to size up, it would just exacerbate the neck size issue. The nail in the coffin for me was when my dog managed to slip backwards out of the harness in one swift action. He is deaf so it is imperative that his harnesses be escape-proof.Nevertheless, I would recommend this harness if your dog doesn't have the extremes in measurements that mine does. It really is beautifully made and I love the metal clasps. For the record, my dog is a 50 pound german shorthaired pointer.I was in love Kurgo brand until earlier today. One of the straps just broke while I was walking my dog near a crossing with lots of cars moving around and suddenly she was free and I was holding only the leash and the harness. She started running playfully like she does when I take off the leash but luckily enough she stopped when I yelled at her. This was the third harness I've bought of this brand and is the first to underdeliver in quality. I'm dissapointed because it only lasted 7 months and was only used for regular walks, it was never pulled to hard or bitten or misused in any way and still it just broke in a dangerous place for a dog to be without a leash.
