I saw this book while at Lindbergh Airport in San Diego prior to my flight back home to the Pacific Northwest. After reading the back cover, and seeing that the story took place in Ocean Beach, Pacific Beach, and nearby communities familiar to me, as I had spent most of my life in San Diego, I decided to buy it. The story is well written and compelling from the start through the final pages. My heart went out to Marcus, the book’s main character, through his tumultuous childhood and his abuse at the hands of a very sick man. Sadly, it’s a believable story and one I won’t soon forget.
