I must confess, I didn't like Sinatra growing up. I only came to appreciate him later, when I started listening to mainstream jazz. Then, and only then did I fully appreciate his impeccable timing woven between a large orchestra. of course Ella, Billy and other of their kind made me " see " what a wonderful pairing of voice and instruments were like. This DVD's highlight for me was Sinatra's rendition of What Now My Love. That one really punctuates what I am talking about. Of course he pairs up with Ella whom I love hearing and seeing. You've got Jobim, which by the way I didn't know enough about him to even know what he looked like. I just knew he was a writer / composer who wrote The Girl From Ipanema and other sounds such as that. You've bot Diane Carol, the Fifth Dimension so it gives you a good look at the late sixties. Of course, because this is Sinatra it is done in the best audio and visual available for the times. Let's not forget in color too. I have Sinatra Around The World. It is good, but, he is older and through a lot of it he is relying on his celebrity, so you don't always get the fire that he still has on this set.
