I suppose that I have loved Vikki Carr's music for a very long time. I have in my possession close to 500 LP albums. One of the most played is Vikki's album, Nashville by Carr. It is not that I do not like her other work; that could not be further from the truth. The first cut on this album is "Singing My Song." Every male with at least an ounce of romance in his soul wants to find that girl who will treat him with that kind of love and respect, because you know that if you find that special person, you will want to give back in kind. Two cuts down (Cut 15 on this double-album CD) is "Make It Rain." It is a great up-tempo song. You can just feel the girl unloading on an egotistical, narcissistic about-to-be ex-boyfriend who has treated her badly. Vikki spits those words out. It makes you feel good, because you just know that when she gets done handing the bum his walking papers, she is going to be just fine. Cut 15, "Sunday Morning Coming Down" is, for my tastes, the finest rendition of this classic around INCLUDING the original. You can feel the low point in mood that the song so beautifully describes. "Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head" is a great rendition of that tune. All of the music on this CD is great to listen to. As for her other albums, I own most of them and enjoy them. She can whisper the words, sing the words, or belt out the words. If you like other flexible balladeers, you will enjoy Vikki Carr.
